Trailing 10‑3, Connecticut (4‑2) ran off 28 straight points in the middle quarters and coasted over Albany (3‑3). Tom Brady threw for 202 yards and hit Kris Mangum, Rod Gardner, and Keary Colbert for scores. Albany’s Corey Dillon ran for 159 yards.

New York (2‑4) upset Philadelphia (3‑3) on a 46-yard touchdown pass from Jake Delhomme to Nate Burleson with 13:16 to go. Delhomme also connected for scores with Tony Gonzalez and Robert Ferguson. For the losers Jamal Lewis ran for 114 yards.

David Akers made up for an earlier missed field goal by banging through a 45-yarder with 13:45 left to lift Washington (5‑1) over Richmond (2‑4) for their fourth win in a row. Both teams averaged less than five yards per play.

Tiki Barber of Atlantic City (3‑3) ran for 135 yards and three touchdowns in his team’s win over Delaware (4‑2). Barber also caught a pass from Kyle Boller for a 56-yard gain. LaDainian Tomlinson had 174 yards on the ground in a losing cause.

Nick Barnett of Baltimore (2‑4) broke open a tense game with 11:32 remaining when he intercepted a pass by Chad Pennington of Pittsburgh (3‑3) and returned it 43 yards to paydirt. Barnett led Baltimore with 11 tackles and their only sack of Pennington.

Providence (4‑2) got touchdown runs from three running backs — Derrick Blaylock, Priest Holmes, and Larry Johnson — in their win over Syracuse (1‑5). Holmes ran for 100 yards, and Marc Bulger passed for 285. Syracuse lost their fifth game in a row.
